Followers of Christ Baptist Church
The Followers of Christ Baptist Church was organized February 20, 1956 by the late Reverend Roosevelt Scott at 1111 Exley Street. A spirit filled service was held. The hymn “I Love Thy Kingdom Lord” was lined to short meters; Rev. Scott read Acts 2:42-47. The service was witnessed by several brethren; Bro. Cornelius Edwards, Bro. Herman Edwards, Bro. John Edwards and Bro. James Gunner. This service was the beginning of the Followers of Christ Baptist Church.
The church is continuing to thank God for the ‘favor’ that He has shown this body of baptized believers throughout the years! We are still looking to Him for what lies ahead for the Followers of Christ Baptist Church! Our steadfast faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has allowed us to see Him work on our behalf. Therefore, we will continue to follow Christ knowing that He is our only source!
